A few things must be noted before one can truly understand Dwarvish nouns. In Davors', nouns decline according to their function in a sentence. The nouns is in the nominative case when it is the subject of a clause. The noun is in the genitive case when it follows the preposition 'ac' or when it is used to indicate possession. The noun is in the accusative case when it functions as a direct object of a verb or preposition. The noun is in the dative case when it functions as the indirect object of a verb. you will notice that in the first three declensions the dative and accusative endings are identical.

In addition to having case, and number, Davorsid nouns also have what is referred to as dimension. In many languages, gender is used to link nouns and adjectives. While a form of noun gender does exist in Davors', it is almost meaningless. In order to link a noun with its modifier, the mutative dimension is used.
